Important Meeting Sunday

There is a very important meeting this Sunday December 14, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Rincon High School Cafeteria located on the corner of 5th and Swan. We will be discussing and voting on 2 bylaw changes:

  • Dues structure change
  • Assistant Business Representative election vs appointment

It is extremely important that you show up and vote on these very critical proposals! Please help spread the word to all of our brothers and sisters.

Holiday Food Boxes

November 18th, 2008

The Pima Area Labor Federation  needs volunteers from all the unions to prepare Holiday Food Baskets for the less fortunate Union members at 8 AM on Saturday, December 20th at the Fire Fighters Union Hall, 2264 East Benson Highway.  We also need people to deliver the food boxes.

If you would like a food box, call the hall.

This would be a great way to volunteer your time to help the needy during this time of giving!

Coat Drive

September 30th, 2008

Rays of Hope is having a coat drive to support Sunnyside Unified School District.  It is from September 29 to October 8.  We are accepting new and gently used coats, hats, mittens, gloves and scarves in child and adult sizes.  Looks for collections boxes in a break area near you.

Please join us for a Labor Day Picnic sponsored by the Pima Area Labor Federation this Labor Day, Monday September 1, 2008 at the Reid Park Band Shell from 10am until 2 pm.

Come enjoy the music, performances, take part in the free lunch, and listen to labor friendly candidates. Bring your families as there will be a ‘kiddie corner’ with loads of activities!

Community Food Bank Volunteers Needed

Saturday June 7, 2008 from 8:30 am to 12 pm

Brothers and Sisters,
We are looking for at least 20 or so volunteers to assist packing food boxes at the Community Food Bank this Saturday June 7, 2008 from 8:30 am to 12 pm. This is a great opportunity to show our appreciation to the Food Bank which helped so many of our members during our strike. Please contact the hall at 294-7696 to volunteer.

Union Reaches Agreement With Raytheon on GWI Issue

2007 general wage increase amounts and base rate minimums were not clarified durring the 2006 Labor Negotiations. IAMAW Local Lodge 933 and Raytheon have agreed to resolve this outstanding issue.

As a result of this agreement, fifty (50) Raytheon Bargaining Unit employees (Union and Non Union) will divide an estimated settlement of more than $70,000.

The Union looks forward to resolving other outstanding issues and will seek to pursue common goals , such as the Voluntary Protection Program and other safety initiatives with Raytheon while continuing to build the best products in the defense industry.

Turn Around America

The AFL-CIO today launched the “Turn Around America” video competition — its first-ever online video contest — and will feature the winners in television ads in part to engage voters and 2008 political candidates in a national dialogue about what is necessary to get America back on track.

Golf Tournament A Success for the Community

The 1st Annual Golf Tournament held April 19th successfully raised over $1100 dollars for the Community Food Bank.
