NFFE-IAM President Dougan Named to Labor Council
William Dougan, President and Directing Business Representative of NFFE-IAM Federal District 1 in Washington, DC, has been appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as a member of the National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations.
The Council, established by a December 2009 Executive Order, is tasked with investigating issues affecting federal workers and then making recommendations to President Obama on ways to boost successful labor-management relations.
“I am honored to be given this opportunity to serve the federal workforce,” said Dougan. “I look forward to working alongside my fellow labor and management representatives in developing common-sense solutions that will benefit both the federal workplace and the nation.”
The Council is composed of representatives from labor, management and the administration and is co-chaired by Director of the Office of Personnel Management John Berry and Deputy Director for the Office of Management and Budget Jeffrey Zients.
Dougan, who has served in a number of union positions at the local, council and national levels, is a 30-year member of the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE). NFFE affiliated with the IAM in 1999.
