Helpful hints from the Community Service Committee for members that are thinking of an employment change, foreseen layoffs or are facing contract negotiations:
• Keep your medical concerns and those of your dependents in mind by scheduling doctor appointments prior to termination of benefits.
• Diabetics, make arrangements to have prescriptions filled for all your necessary supplies such as insulin, syringes and test strips.
• Members and/or dependent family members that require taking daily medication for blood pressure, heart condition or other serious medical conditions, get a three month supply of your medications.
• Have a current address on file for your financial accounts such as 401k for emergency money withdrawal.
• Know where you stand with your financial institutions for mortgages, credit cards and utilities and plan accordingly.
Communication is the key to a good transition. Please pass this information on to other members or friends that may be facing the above situations. If you anticipate requiring assistance or have any questions call 294-7696 and leave a message for the Community Service Committee.
If you are presently facing financial difficulties, or have medical issues and concerns on availability of health care during a contract dispute contact Marian Amoroso-Benedetto.
